EMPOWERING YOUTH: NATASHA JOUBERT COLLECTIVE BURSARY. – Fashion Force Africa Magazine
Johannesburg, South Africa (July 31, 2024): Ten deserving students from across South Africa are changing their futures thanks to the Natasha Joubert Collective bursary program. This initiative, spearheaded by Miss South Africa Natasha Joubert, provides a comprehensive six-month web development bootcamp courtesy of HyperionDev, Southern Africa’s leading tech education provider, and ASUS, a global leader in computer hardware.
Bridging the Digital Skills Gap
Joubert’s educational advocacy campaign recognizes the critical need for tech skills in today’s job market. With an estimated 44,000 unfilled entry-level digital vacancies in South Africa alone, the demand for skilled professionals far exceeds the supply. The Natasha Joubert Collective aims to narrow this digital skills gap and empower young people to thrive in the tech sector.
Riaz Moola, CEO and founder of HyperionDev, echoes this sentiment: “Developing tech skills is vital to fostering sustainable economic growth. Collaborative initiatives like this are crucial steps towards empowering the youth with the tools they need to succeed.”
Student Voices: A Journey of Challenge and Reward
We spoke to five bursary recipients to get a glimpse into their experiences at the web development bootcamp.
Bongane Zwane shared the initial challenges of learning to code: “It seemed overwhelming, but with dedication and resources like YouTube tutorials and mentors, things started to click. The real challenge is applying what you learn to solve specific problems. It’s more than memorizing code; it’s about a whole new way of thinking.”
Johane Neethling thrives on the challenge: “Every problem solved brings a sense of accomplishment. The difficulty level keeps me engaged and pushes me to expand my abilities. This program is both stimulating and inspiring, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Nnanana Madisha praised the support system at HyperionDev: “The onboarding process was smooth, the lessons are clear, and the support team is fantastic. Our mentors are always available to answer questions and provide guidance.”
Rolivhuwa Funyufunyu echoes the sentiment of growth: “It’s challenging, but seeing my daily progress is amazing. I’m truly enjoying this experience.”
Zethu Mokoena sees the program as a transformative opportunity: “This bursary allows me to develop the technical skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the ever-evolving tech industry.”
The Natasha Joubert Collective bursary program is a shining example of how collaboration can empower young people. By investing in their tech education, we are paving the way for a brighter future filled with innovation and opportunity.
