FlySafair Takes Flight: New Budget-Friendly Route Connects Cape Town to Windhoek – FASHION FORCE AFRICA
Calling all adventure seekers and budget-conscious travelers! FlySafair, South Africa’s leading low-cost airline, is soaring into new territory with a highly anticipated route connecting Cape Town, South Africa, to Windhoek, Namibia.
This exciting addition marks FlySafair’s first regional route departing from Cape Town, affectionately known as the “Mother City.” Flights take off starting October 22nd, 2024, opening doors to a world of exploration in Namibia.
“We’ve been eager to tap into the Windhoek market for a while,” says Kirby Gordon, FlySafair’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Aircraft availability was previously a hurdle, but with an additional plane stationed in Cape Town, we can finally offer competitive fares and expand our reach.”
The Windhoek route currently sits at around 83% pre-pandemic travel volume, presenting a prime opportunity for growth. Traditionally, flights between Cape Town and Windhoek can range from a hefty R5,000 to R9,000 or even more. FlySafair, true to its mission of affordable and safe travel, introduces highly competitive pricing with tickets starting from a budget-friendly R1,800 (already available for purchase). This opens Namibia’s doors to travelers who previously lacked a cost-effective option.
The launch strategically coincides with the upcoming summer holidays. “This new route offers South Africans a fresh alternative for visiting loved ones,” explains Gordon. “The route also caters to business travel needs.”
The Cape Town to Windhoek connection caters not only to domestic travel but also to those seeking to venture further into Africa. “This route is perfect for travelers eager to explore the beauty of neighboring countries,” Gordon adds. “Additionally, it benefits international visitors using Cape Town as a springboard to other African destinations.”
Making Namibia more accessible for both local and international travelers is a strategic move. The International Trade Administration highlights Namibia’s captivating tourist attractions, including:
- The Namib Desert, boasting the title of the oldest desert in the world.
- The awe-inspiring Fish River Canyon.
- The Skeleton Coast, renowned for its dramatic landscapes.
- Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s largest game reserves.
Add to this the iconic Sossusvlei sand dunes and Namibia’s well-maintained road infrastructure, and it’s easy to understand the country’s magnetic pull on tourists.
To meet the anticipated demand, FlySafair’s new route will operate twice a week, specifically on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
This year has seen FlySafair actively broaden its horizons with several new routes. Notably, direct flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to Kruger National Park were launched, providing easier access to this iconic South African treasure for local and international tourists.
In Gordon’s concluding remarks, “The Cape Town to Windhoek route aligns perfectly with our vision. It empowers travelers with a budget-friendly way to explore the rich beauty of Namibia, our neighboring gem.”
