Musa Khawula, a prominent South African social media influencer known for his candid commentary on celebrities, is currently facing multiple legal charges. These include hate speech, crimen injuria, and violations under the Cyber Crimes Act 19 of 2020. The charges stem from disparaging remarks he made about businessman Ze Nxumalo and his wife, former Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green, which he posted on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter). These actions have led to significant public backlash and legal scrutiny.

On January 29, 2025, Khawula appeared at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court to face charges of crimen injuria and contempt of court. During this appearance, his defense attorney, Ofentse Nkgwang, announced the decision to abandon the bail application. Nkgwang cited ongoing investigations in another matter in Carletonville as a factor influencing this decision. Magistrate Liesel Davis postponed the matter to February 18, 2025, to allow for the completion of investigations. The court added a charge of attempted murder, with reckless driving as an alternative, along with the charge of failing to render assistance or report the accident. He has been remanded in custody, with the matter postponed to February 5, 2025, for a formal bail application.
