SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC INDUSTRY MOURNS THE LOSS OF MALOME VECTOR (1992-2024) – Fashion Force Africa Magazine

Johannesburg, South Africa (July 28, 2024): The Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Lesotho-born musician Bokang Moleli, better known by his stage name Malome Vector. Vector, a multi-platinum-selling artist and SAMA award winner, died tragically alongside fellow musician Lizwi Wokuqala and music director Da Mos.

At only 32 years old, Vector had become a popular figure in the South African Afro-pop and hip-hop scene. His musical journey began at a young age, with Vector participating in his school choir at 14 before testing his talents on various talent shows.

Vector’s dedication paid off. In 2021, he received the prestigious SAMA award for Best Music Video for his song “Price To Pay,” a collaboration with Miss Pru and Blaq Diamond. Tracks like “Dumelang” and “Nobody” propelled him to stardom after being discovered by Ambitiouz Entertainment in 2020.

Driven by ambition, Vector established his own record label, The Whole Time Entertainment, in 2023. He further solidified his vision by securing a distribution deal with Ingrooves Africa (Electromode), a top global music distributor.

Nhlanhla Sibisi, CEO of RiSA, expressed his condolences: “The passing of Malome Vector is devastating and a great loss to the South African music industry. On behalf of RiSA’s board, staff, and affiliates, we extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the Moleli family, his relatives, friends, collaborators, and fans.”

Sibisi continued, “His stage presence and charisma were an inspiration to aspiring artists. He played a pivotal role in elevating South African rap music. This is a truly incalculable loss. Robala ka Khotso (Rest in Peace).”

Malome Vector’s music and entrepreneurial spirit will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the South African music scene. His fans and fellow musicians will cherish his memory, and his influence will continue to inspire future generations of artists.
