SUSTAINABLE THREADS TAKES THE STAGE: IMBIZO SHINES AT CAMPUS JEA GALA (Montpellier, Occitanie)
The prestigious Campus des Jeunes Entrepreneurs Africains( CJEA) program in Montpellier, Occitanie, France, recently welcomed a special guest,IMBIZO (formerly Maison de l’Afrique Australe). The event, held in collaboration with the House International Relations, culminated in a captivating gala dinner at the historic Château De Flaugergues. Here, IMBIZO presented a thought-provoking fashion show titled “Éco Mode Collection Fashion Show,” highlighting the burgeoning movement of sustainable fashion.
The Éco Mode collection fashion show is more than just a catwalk trend, it’s a revolution. This movement champions environmental responsibility, sustainability, innovation, and social consciousness within the fashion industry. Éco Mode designers are redefining the future of fashion by prioritizing these values throughout the entire lifecycle of their garments. The fashion show is creating awareness among consumers who still have clothing with price tags from previous years,” added Siyasanda Larena, the President of the NGO.
The CAMPUS JEA program, organized by the House International Relations, with support from Montpellier Metropolitan Méditerranée and the Foundation Prospective Innovation, serves as a launchpad for young African entrepreneurs.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Andre Agid (President of GAYA and Global Media Group),Clare Hart, Vice President of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, Nathaneal Molle International Relations Manager, representatives from the French Institute and more.
- Le Grande Mariane by Deblieux Olivia: This designer wows with eccentric pieces featuring “light architecture” thanks to their innovative textile experimentation. Offering Haute Couture rentals for both men and women, Le Grande Mariane promotes self-expression through “Wearable Art” leather goods, all with an ethical and ecological approach.
- Laureen: This designer takes a unique approach, utilizing plastic materials and found objects like seashells to create artistic dresses for exhibition and wearable pieces.
- Siyasanda Larena: Larena’s upcycled collection breathes new life into donated clothing, demonstrating the power of creative reuse in fashion.
- TYLONA (CAMPUS JEA participant): This rising star from the CAMPUS JEA program showcased her latest collection, captivating the audience with her innovative and sustainable designs.
