Johannesburg, South Africa – Art enthusiasts and American Express cardholders converged on Keyes Art Mile for a vibrant First Thursdays celebration. The evening pulsed with creativity, featuring captivating exhibitions, live music, and exclusive experiences curated by American Express.
The energy was electric as guests explored the diverse offerings at Keyes Art Mile. A highlight was the 2023 Amex ZA Graphic Arts Challenge winner, Mark Modimola’s masterpiece, adorning the building’s exterior facade. This awe-inspiring artwork served as a stunning introduction to the artistic journey awaiting visitors.
The Manor, a prominent South African art collective, took center stage with the launch of their exhibition “Reflecting B(l)ack.” This powerful showcase featured the works of renowned photographers from across the continent, including Andile Buka, Athi-Patra Ruga, and Imraan Christian. The exhibition celebrated the vibrancy and diversity of Black art, offering a platform for established and emerging talents. Guests even had the unique opportunity to have their portraits captured by the award-winning artist, Trevor Stuurman, founder of The Manor, at a dedicated photo booth.
Guests enjoyed an exclusive playlist from johannesburg’s favorite DJ, Franadilla, who spun energetic tunes, while award-winning mixologist Lucy Magic crafted a special “American Express First Thursdays” cocktail.
IQOQO hosted a stimulating panel discussion exploring the intersection of creativity and artificial intelligence. Additionally, the House of Special Things offered a unique still life workshop, complementing Gallery 1’s exhibition “Still Lives and Flowers.”
