SAMA30 Nominees Revealed: A Battle Royale for Record and Music Video of the Year
The South African Music Awards (SAMA) are turning up the volume as the 30th-anniversary celebration kicks off with the announcement of nominees for the highly anticipated Record of the Year and Music Video of the Year awards.
These coveted categories promise a thrilling battle. Grammy winner Tyla throws down the gauntlet with her global smash hit “Water,” while chart-topping Tyler ICU counters with the infectious dance anthem “Mnike.” Amapiano takes center stage with a strong showing, with tracks like “IPlan” by Zaba, Sykes, and Dlala Thukzin, “Imithandazo” by Mthunzi and Kabza De Small, and “Sgudi Snyc” by De Mthuda, Da Muziqal Chef, and Eemoh all vying for the top prize.
The race for Music Video of the Year is equally diverse. Hip-hop and dance collide in AKA and Nasty C’s “Lemons (Lemonade),” while Mörda and Oscar Mbo featuring Murumba Pitch bring the heat with “Mohigan Sun.” Blxckie’s “Ronda” and Lwah Ndlunkulu’s “Ngiyeza” showcase the talent pool’s depth. Amapiano queen Lowsheen nabs two nominations for her captivating visuals in “Thula” with Master KG and Nkosazana Daughter and “Uthando Lwakho” with Master KG and Basetsana.
The public has the exciting opportunity to decide the winners in these categories! Voting is officially open – SMS the artist code to 33485 to show your support (each SMS costs R1.50, terms and conditions apply).

This recognition is a significant accomplishment for these artists, and we’re proud to continue this tradition in our 30th year.”
